Hi Everyone,
Hope you all are enjoying your summer. And taking advantages of the many camping opportunities available. Remember that September will be here before you know it. Program launch will be on August 9th and District wide recruitment will immediatley follow.
The First District event in the fall will be our Annual Cub Scout Olympics. If you have attended the Olympics before and have some ideas about making it better, contact us about working on the committee or even better, being the Chair.
We need some new blood and new ideas.

Tragedy At Scout Camp

Statement from Scout Executive: http://www.scouting.org/Media/PressReleases/2008/20080612.aspx

In Memorial - Mrs. Coleman passed on June 6, 2008.

YESHIVA WORLD NEWS, http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/, a blog that is rapidly evolving into a newspaper, had a major photo display of the second annual shul bonfire, which is run by the troop. Look for the section of " Lag Baomer at Khal Machzekai Torah of Baltimore" (which may have the url of http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=33956 but I suspect the number is not stable). I located the pictures quickly by a keyword search for "Baltimore".

Centennial Quality Unit Award

By now many of you have become familiar with the Centennial Quality Unit Award. This is a new award from the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America to assure quality programming and unit service. The focus of this program is developing stronger relationships between the unit and the district commissioner staff as well as opening up better communication with the council. Youth retention is also a key component to achieving this award for 2007. Each unit will qualify for this award by October of 2007 by meeting criteria agreed to by working with your unit commissioner. To date the Babe Ruth District units have only submitted 2 commitment forms. Your unit leaders will receive a telephone call from someone on our commissioner staff to assist you in completing this form. Download the Commitment Form.
